Kittens Galore

Kitten season is definitely in full swing – on Friday I got to photograph these beautiful babies for their adoption profiles – from right to left, Wren, Falcon, Hawk, and Peregrine. They will be available for adoption through Paws and Tails Rehoming in mid November.

Happy Adoption Story – Razzle Pug

This article is part of an ongoing series about rescue animals here in Melbourne who have been rehomed and are living happily ever after in their forever homes. It’s my aim to show how wonderful and fulfilling it can be to rescue, and to encourage adoption as the first option. If you have a rescue pet with a story to tell, click here to email me.

Often when you hear about animals in a shelter, you think abused, starved, neglected and fearful animals. And while this sadly is often the case, a lot of the time dogs and cats who end up in rescue do so for multiple reasons – from the death of an owner, to a health issue, or sometimes, people simply don’t have the resources or desire to keep their pet any more. While this can seem really unimaginable to us as crazy animal people, it’s a sad reality. When these situations happen, perfectly happy and well adjusted animals end up in shelters – animals who are just bursting to go to a lovely new home. This is what happened with the gorgeous and happy Razzle. For reasons unknown, he was surrendered to Bendigo Animal Welfare and Community Services

Dani hadn’t originally wanted a dog – she was looking for a cat at the time. But then she saw Razzles’s adoption photo, and immediately fell in love. Being a pug, people were lining up around the block for him – but Dani and him had an instant bond that has just gotten stronger every day. He happily trotted out of the shelter with her, hopped into her car, and made himself totally at home from day one.

Poor wee Razzle was quite overweight when he arrived with Dani – he had ballooned to a not very bikini body friendly fifteen kilos! After a strict workout regime and diet, he now weighs in at a slender eight kilos. His favourite snack in the world is carrots, which he goes absolutely crazy for. I think we could all take some weight loss tips from Razzle!

Is that treats mum?

One thing that really struck me about Razzle, was that he didn’t want to do anything apart from hang out with his mumma. Even though he loves other people, the beach, and trips in the car, at the end of the day all he wants is to be snuggled up with his number one human.

True love xxxx

The bond these two have is very special, and I think it demonstrates perfectly how adoption is a wonderful option!

Thank you Dani and Razzle for having me over to tell your story – it was such a happy one that I left with a huge smile on my face! And if you’d like to keep up with Razzle’s antics, you can do so over on Razzle’s very own Facebook Page!
