Oliver all grown up

When I first met Oliver he was nine weeks old and had just gone to live with his new Mum and Dad. He was so small that he could be picked up in one hand! Now he’s a big strong boy who still loves to play, and who could beat anyone at a game of tug-o-war. I left with a sore arm and a full memory card, his shoot was so much fun.

I think it’s really important to always have up to date images of your pets – it’s so lovely to see the changes they go through. Puppies grow up so incredibly fast!

Oliver at nine weeks and at just over a year – what a difference!

A very serious game of tug of war

To give some perspective, these sticks are exactly the same size – it’s just Oli who has gotten bigger!

Oliver’s family have gorgeous retro furniture, and he was quite happy to ham it up

All tuckered out

The Best of August

August has been a month of highs and lows. We found out that the gorgeous Zach from Saffron on the Hill has an aggressive tumour that cannot be cured, which is devastating news. And on Friday we got the horrible news that darling Arnold had passed away suddenly. His owners are grieving very hard for him, and my heart is so sad for their loss.

Arnold

There has also been happiness this month. Our foster kittens both found great homes, with Mr Moo (now called Albie) going to live with a new big sister (also called Moo!) and Justin B staying right here with us and his new best friend Harry. As you can see they are the best of friends and adore each other.

This month I also had the pleasure of photographing Otis, a seventeen year old mini Foxie who is such a character. Apparently he likes nothing more than to run away to the cat shelter down the road and snuggle in front of the heater with the cats.

Adorable little Paddington arrived at Saffron on the Hill and was promptly snapped up by a lovely new family who will spoil him rotten

A bit of rain doesn’t slow this little bundle of energy down

The rest of my August was spent working on my tax return (boo!) and taking time off to visit family back in New Zealand. September is going to be a very busy month, with some really exciting shoots coming up. I’m currently taking bookings for October, email me today to secure a spot.

Behind the scenes

I thought I’d share these out-takes from my Saffron on the Hill calendar shoot. Granny Giggles had us in fits of laughter as we tried to get the perfect shot. Karen stood behind me with treats while my faithful assistant Jeremy held her little bunny ears up and jumped out of the way just before I took the shot. She was definitely a grumpy girl by the end of it all, but all was forgiven with a Schmacko.

I’m starting to think ahead to Christmas fundraising ideas – I think she’d look quite fetching as a Christmas elf, don’t you?

TREATS??

Floppy ears

I can’t see!

That’s it, I’m not posing anymore

The final product!

Pawfection

Pet photography, to me, is about capturing all aspects of your pet. I love find new ways to show your pet, and during a shoot I’ll often photograph the little details – ears, nose, tails. But my favourite detail shots are nearly always the paws. There’s just something so lovable about a little paw, resting on your leg as if to say “I’m here! It’s all going to be ok”. So today is a round up of paws, scruffy ones, round ones, and funny ones.

Otis might have a career as a paw model

Bentley has the cutest little back legs and paws

Connor’s paws are of the fluffier variety

Paws + tongue = perfection!
