My beautiful foster girl Tiger Lily has been adopted – she is going to the most wonderful home where she will be treated like a total princess. It will be hard to say goodbye, but I’m sure the new year will bring a new foster for me to fall in love with all over again.

A bit of Tuesday cuteness – these two little dudes were such super models this Sunday!
Fleur and Wellington
I have such a soft spot for Cavalier’s – they are such beautiful natured dogs, and with the most gorgeous wee faces. Today I had the pleasure of photographing Fleur and her little brother Wellington, I’ve never had such wonderful kisses and snuggles, I found it hard to leave!
Sir David Attenborough Live
Last night I had one of the most amazing experiences of my life – I got to see my hero Sir David Attenborough live on stage, talking about his incredible sixty year career. Sir David’s documentaries have shaped my life in huge ways, from encouraging my fascination with the natural world as well as becoming passionate about animal welfare. It was also because of him that I chose Rwanda as my first overseas travel destination, I remember seeing footage of him and Dian Fossey with Mountain Gorillas and thinking “that’s where I want to go”.
This photo was taken six years ago, and it remains my favourite photo I’ve ever taken. We hiked an hour in the hot, steamy, and downright scary mountains of Rwanda. We arrived at a clearing where we watched a family of twelve play and interact for an hour – I’ve never been so happy in my life.
It was also amazing to see his passion and enthusiasm at 88 years old, while I’ve been grumbling about turning 30 soon. Seeing him speak also made me realise that no matter what your passion is – follow it and it will keep you young. As Sir David said at the end of his talk last night, “It’s a truly wonderful world”
RSPCA Melbourne Santa Paws – Donna The Pug
Today I had the pleasure of meeting Donna the Pug, who aside from being an Instagram star, is also the ambassador for the RSPCA Santa Paws – Santa photos for you and your pet! I sat down and had a chat with Donna (and her human Sally) and got to know her a little better.
Donna was surrendered to the RSPCA earlier this year, and was overweight with eye and ear infections. She had also had several litters of pups, and needed an operation on her soft palate (apparently her snoring was a noise to behold). She went into foster care with Sally while she recovered, and sure enough – Sally was a complete foster failure. Here are some fun facts about Donna:
- Donna, like most of us ladies, is working hard to get her best bikini body. She came into the care of the RSPCA at twelve kilos, and has lost two, with her goal weight of eight or nine kilos. She keeps fit with two walks a day and runs on the beach.
- Donna had never played with toys before going into foster care! Now she loves them, although it took her a while to figure out what they were for.
- Donna has her very own couch. Well, technically it’s the human’s couch but Donna says it’s hers.
- She pretends to not like her Staffy brother Jet but has been busted snuggling up with him when the humans aren’t looking.
- Donna’s birthday is the 20th of April, which makes her a Taurus.
Donna would love to see you at Santa Paws, so head on over to the RSPCA website to book (bookings close Thursday evening), or turn up on the day.Santa Paws is always a huge amount of fun, and while you’re at the shelter you can also check out their retail products (great for stocking stuffers), and you might even find another addition to your family – there are dozens of sweet cats and dogs who would love to have a home in time for Christmas!
